Peer-graded Assignment: Presenting Your Research Solution

You will record an informative presentation that communicates the results of your research
to a group of your peers. Ideally, your recording should be a video; if this is not possible, then
provide an audio recording. Your presentation should be 5 to 7 minutes long and will be
evaluated for

• Overall research effectiveness

• Speech organization

• Your language choices

• Your delivery, including vocal variety and pace

• The overall effectiveness of your speech

Your Research Objectives: Peer-graded Assignment: Presenting Your Research Solution

Your research should provide you with sufficient raw material to give an informed answer
to “What do you know about our company?”. Of course, you’re not going to take 5 to 7 minutes
to answer a question like that in an interview – more like 1 to 2. But the background
information you obtain will allow you to ask better questions later in an interview and to
better address questions posed to you by a hiring manager.

Peer-graded Assignment: Presenting Your Research Solution

Everyone enrolled in the course must review at least two other submissions to ensure everyone receives a grade; however, many learners complete more to help their peers who are still waiting.

So that your peer gets the most out of your review, you are asked in rubric #1 to rate your oral communication skills on a scale from 4 (highest) to 1 (lowest).

4I am highly fluent and an experienced speaker of English. I have no problem understanding English movies, TV shows, webcasts and radio programs.
3I have good fluency and communicate regularly in English. I can understand most of the dialog in English movies, TV shows, webcasts and radio programs.
2I search for words frequently when speaking in English and struggle in conversations. I cannot understand much of the dialog in English movies, TV shows, webcasts and radio programs.

Or 1 = It is very difficult for me to have a conversation in English or to understand spoken English. If this describes your oral skills, you should probably reconsider whether you are ready for this specialization.
